Swim Trends 2001
It's High Tide For Fashion
LOOKING FIT proudly presents the latest fashion trends for the upcoming
Cruise 2001 season. Our Annual Swimsuit Issue provides you with a glimpse at the
hottest fashions that will be turning heads at the beaches and pools this
season.
All the suits translate to swimwear taking its cues from the designer excess
seen on the ready-to-wear runways this past season. Prints jump straight off the
pages of fashion magazines with refined plaids, graphic circles, large open
florals, logos and more logos.
One of the most important looks for swimwear continues to be the separate and
versatile tops and bottoms in luxurious fabrics that are mixed with DuPont LYCRA
for the added benefit of body shaping and comfort.
The takini, now seen with more construction, continues to be strong, and the
popular boy shorts have been updated with shorter shapes and details such as
belting and piping. The more revealing teeny bikinis also are hot, with bandeau,
halter and triangle tops being the most popular choices.
The Stain-Free Suit
DuPont LYCRA, the miracle fiber, has partnered with DuPont Teflon
stain repellant to provide women with swimsuits that not only have body shaping
and comfort benefits, but also stay oil-free, while guarding against sweat
stains and spills. Prada has designed swimwear with LYCRA and Teflon inspired by
the body shaping and stain-free benefits.
The Bauble Suit
Proving that diamonds are a girl's best friend, Sauvage, a leading
European-style swimwear manufacturer, is trimming suites in stones-rhinestones
that is. The suits not only are eye-catching but stylish, comfortable, and have
body-shaping benefits, with the inclusion of LYCRA in the suits. Rhinestones are
not the only swim accessory for 2001, look for crystal, fringe and metal
studding.
The Retro Suit
The most explosive statement made in the '40s was the introduction of
the bikini in 1946. In 2001, the original bikini is making a comeback and
Jantzen has started the trend-this time with LYCRA. The halter top and
ruffled gathering at the front says that Hollywood glamour on the beach is back
and more comfortable than ever.
Cut-Out Suit
We've seen cutaway sides and deep plunging necklines on the red carpets
at all the award shows, with famous celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Christina
Aquilera and Britney Spears. The dare-to-bare look now has made it to the water
as swimsuits mimic what Hollywood celebs are wearing-necklines to the navel and
cutaway trims.
Many thanks to DuPont LYCRA for its contribution to the Swim Trends 2001.
