At the end of the first quarter, a total of 33 bills have been introduced in 22 different states. There have been 15 hearings around the country and decisive actions have been taken on quite a few bills. More importantly, we have notched a couple of significant victories and nine bills are dead ... but we still have a long way to go.
The New Hampshire, Washington State and South Dakota under-18 bans are all dead for the year. In addition, the Kansas and Indiana under-14 bans and Oklahoma’s two under-13 bans also died in committee due to lack of support. Finally, Wyoming rejected an attempted ban and passed a straightforward parental consent requirement instead.
We appreciate the efforts of everyone who help helped in these state fights. It is imperative that local businesses get involved. If the voters don’t care, they will run over us.
