Pediatricians Double Vitamin D Recommendations

The American Academy of Pediatrics says children—from newborns to teens—need double the currently recommended amount of vitamin D because of evidence that it may help prevent serious diseases.

This new recommendation of 400 IUs daily will require millions of children—including breast-fed infants and many teens, who drink little or no milk—to take daily vitamin D supplements.
