Inc.com lists seven signs you’re the boss every worker fears, such as being irrational or egotistical. Take a look at some of the top bad-boss indicators:
- Your staff avoids you at all costs. If the break room empties when you appear, or people take the long way to bathroom to avoid passing your office door, then you could be a bad boss.
- Management evaluations come back with generic criticism and one “He works too hard sometimes” thrown in for good measure.
- Former employees do not keep in contact, not even for a reference. Perhaps the memories are too horrific, or they worry you’ll be bitter and give them an undeserved poor reference.
- Tons of turnover. If you can’t seem to keep your assistant around for more than three months, and your employees come and go like clockwork, you might be a bad boss.
